To get a perspective on the value of good Christian books in Nigeria let me share with you a letter I received some time ago. It read as follows:
“My joy knows no bounds on the gifts you are sending me. I count myself as one of the luckiest persons on the earth. In return brother, I would like you to send me measurements of your trousers and shirts and also your wife’s measurements so as to enable me to sew Nigerian traditional wears for you.”
While I never took this man up on his offer, it did touch me to see that he was willing to sew a pair of pants, a shirt and a traditional garment for my wife for the books he was receiving. This was an obvious sign of gratitude and an indication of how much he valued the books that were being sent him.
