The following account from Nigeria shows something of how precious a Bible Commentary is in the hands of a pastor in Nigeria:
“It was exactly 10:35 am yesterday when I was in the classroom in our new Bible school giving a lecture to the students on the subject of Paul’s ministry to the Gentiles. Our mail runner came in and handed your parcel to me. Seeing your name on the envelope, I quickly and joyfully opened it and saw your book, Romans. Glancing at the contents, I saw the same topic I was lecturing on. I showed the book to the students and behold there was a great shout of joy. Every student was saying, please tell your friend to send me a copy of Romans.”
It is hard to imagine that a simple Bible Commentary could cause such a stir. Obviously this is an indication of the hunger for the Word of God among Christians in Nigeria. The Bible Teacher went on in the letter to ask for 500 copies of the commentary on Romans.
